All across America the traditional family owned hardware store has become an increasingly rare find. The neighborhood hardware store it seems, once a cultural and social foundation of every town, has fallen victim to the mega chain store.
To fight this trend Kevin Euston, owner of two old fashioned brick and mortar hardware stores, recently launched NeighborhoodHardware.com as an Internet extension of his long established retail business.
Kevin and his family, including his wife Kathy, own two real-life, good old fashioned hardware stores operating in the Kansas City area since 1971. The stores were founded by Kevin\'s father Ken Euston and are located in the Waldo neighborhood of Kansas City, Mo and Prairie Village, a Kansas City suburb.
The Euston\'s decided to fight back for all of the small, family run retail businesses by taking their Neighborhood Hardware store to every city, town and Internet connection across the country by launching NeighborhoodHardware.com. The trend towards online shopping, particularly for replacement parts and accessories, made building an online store a very attractive option for Euston Hardware.
\"We hope shopping at NeighborhoodHardware.com feels like walking into either Euston Hardware store. When you order online or have a question about a product you can call NeighborhoodHardware.com customer service and know that you will find a cheerful greeting and expert advice on just about any hardware, lawn or home improvement topic you can think of - Just like the good old days of the neighborhood hardware store, said Kevin Euston.\"
1st month sales have been brisk and shoppers have commented that they felt good about buying hardware online from a real hardware store.
The store was developed by Duct Tape Marketing and is hosted by Yahoo Business Solutions.
